Boxer Amir Khan crashes his £90,000 Mercedes S350 after losing control in wet weather on the M6

Amir Khan has crashed his £90,000 Mercedes after his lost control of it in wet weather on the M6 and smashed into the central barrier. 

The boxing champion, 33, shared pictures of the Mercedes S350 smash and said: ‘Smashing into the side of the motorway barrier felt like being hit with a combo.’

Mr Khan took video footage at the scene of the crash which showed his front bumper hanging off while his hazard lights blinked as he waited for assistance. 

The car’s hood was also badly damaged and had come unhinged while the back of the vehicle looked mangled.  

Mr Khan crashed on the M6 southbound between junctions 12 and 13 last night. 

Sharing the horrific incident on Instagram, the boxer wrote: ‘Thank God everyone is safe. 

‘A scary experience. Car lost control on the motorway #aquaplane.

‘Smashing into the side of the motorway barrier felt like being hit with a combo!’

It is unknown whether anyone was with the Bolton-born boxer at the time of the crash.  

Khan is no stranger to driving incidents and in 2017 was chased through the streets during a road rage attack when a car rammed into his £100,000 Range Rover.  

He was attacked by a group of men in his hometown of Bolton in Greater Manchester, when his designer 4×4 was involved in an accident.

Violence erupted when the two parties confronted each other over the collision, thought to have been caused when the boxer took a wrong turn. 

It is believed several men set on Khan with one man throwing a punch in his direction. 

In 2016 Khan admitted breaking a speed limit by 26mph but avoided a road ban after claiming he was trying to shake off a crazed fan tailgating his personalised Land Rover.

The boxing champion had been caught by a speed camera driving at 76mph on a suburban dual carriageway in Greater Manchester where the speed limit is 50mph.

But he said he was being ‘harassed’ by a fan who had been following him along the A34 Kingsway in Cheadle Hulme after a function.  

In 2012 Khan was forced to call upon the skills that make him a former world champion after an armed gang ambushed the British boxer.

He and his brother Haroon, 20, were caught up in a street brawl when up to six armed gang members attempted to steal his £100,000 Range Rover.

And despite trying to block the duo’s path by using a 4×4, Khan and his brother fought back before fleeing from the scene in Birmignham. 

In 2007, he was convicted of careless driving and given a six-month driving ban and fined £1,000 after he accidentally mowed down and injured a pedestrian who was using a pelican crossing. 

The pedestrian who suffered a broken leg in the impact was awarded £40,000 but never fully recovered from the incident and died two years afterwards from a gastrointestinal bleed.

In 2008, Khan was fined £1,000 and banned from the roads for 42 days after he was accused of speeding in excess of 140mph on the M62 motorway.

Then in July 2009, he was accused of being involved in a crash with a young cyclist – but no action was taken against him after police concluded that he was not to blame for the incident. 

Mr Khan has a large super-car collection and owns a £271,000 Lamborghini Aventador, a £233,000 Rolls Royce Phantom and a £65,000 Range Rover.
