The £300,000, three-bedroomed semi-detached house has been cordoned off since the weekend, with a red Honda Civic car also behind the tape for forensic examination.

Police were carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the small close.

One woman said: ‘It is just a nice part of the city. It does not make sense to have three murders in this area in such a short space of time.’

Another neighbour said: ‘They have lived here for about 15 years. I don’t know their names.

‘From what I understand, it was the man who lives there who dialled 999.’

A third said: ‘They own the house, but people have not had much to do with them. I don’t think either of them was working.’

Another added: ‘I didn’t know them at all. I just used to see her in the car.’
