A number of Google services are experiencing outages worldwide – just as many users are starting the work week.
The tech giant’s Slides, Drive, and Sheets appear to be down according to the Google Workplace Status Dashboard.
Problems started around 9:36AM and are affecting the US, the UK, China and other nations around the globe.
Google is aware of the outages and is ‘investigating reports’ of issues with its services.

It is not clear how many users have been hit by the outage, but DownDetector shows New York City and Boston, Massachusetts in the red on its outage map.
Regardless, a Monday morning outage may not be the best way for people to start the week as millions are still working from home due to the lingering coronavirus pandemic – and many rely of Google’s services to conduct daily tasks.
Users impacted by the outage are seeing ‘error messages’ when attempting to crate a new Google Doc that reads: ‘Please try reloading this page, or coming back to it in a few minutes.’
‘Google Docs’ is currently trending on Twitter with more than 199,000 tweets from people who appear very frustrated by the outage.

DownDetector shows 92 percent of Google Doc issue reports say the app is not loading.
Along with frustrated works, many students rely on Google Docs for assignments and April 12 is the first day back for many following spring break.
Outages among online services are common occurrences, as Facebook and Instagram seem to crash every few weeks,
Google on the other hand rarely experiences issues and when it does, it greatly impacts people’s daily lives.

The last outage hit Google in December 2020 that took down Gmail, YouTube, Maps, Drive and Sheets.
Hundreds of millions of people worldwide were impacted and unable to access the services for about one hour.
Google released a statement saying its authentication system outage was due to an internal storage quota issue.
Services were requiring users to log in at the same time, which hit at a higher rate than it could handle.
