Former cage fighter Alex Reid has been jailed for eight weeks for contempt of court after he lied in a witness statement for a compensation claim following a car crash.
The martial artist, 45, sought compensation from Axa after his Audi A6 crashed into a Seat Leon on the A41 in 2018.
He claimed a stranger on a motorbike – Darren Summers, 49 – said he would be a witness to the incident after approaching the scene before police arrived.

However, the Seat driver’s insurer, Axa, later discovered Reid knew kick-boxing champion Summers and had trained him in the past.
