The mother of two, who has just been announced as a Bio-Oil ambassador for its new Dry Skin Gel, has a holistic approach to looking and feeling fabulous.

Mel raved about the product, which retails between $8.95 and $14.95, saying that she ‘slathers’ it on every night everywhere from her feet and hands.

‘It’s fabulous, I love it and I’m not just saying that,’ Mel said, who absolutely stuns in a one-piece costume while posing poolside in a shoot for the brand.

‘I’ve found for me, as you get a little bit older, I remember as a kid my mum was slathering moisturiser in and when I was little I was never a fan of anything heavy and now I get it, I can’t put enough on,’ she said.

‘I sit on the bed at night and slather it on my feet and hands!’

Mel also said that sleep, diet, exercise – for the mind AND body, as well as self-care and attitude go a long way to feeling your very best.

Sleep however, is her number one tip.

‘Let’s be honest, if you don’t have enough of it, it’s pretty apparent the next morning,’ Mel said, who dealt with her fair share of early mornings with her impressive 11-year stint on Sunrise.

‘It’s important to make sure we invest and have a good bed and pillows, I always have the window open for fresh air,’ she added.

Mel revealed that she tries to eat everything in moderation, but isn’t afraid to break the healthy diet to have a cheeky bit of chocolate on occasion.

‘Putting too much bad stuff in can appear on your skin and face,’ Mel said.

‘And drinking water, for me, that makes a big difference.’

‘We try to eat well, but I eat chocolate, I love a glass of wine. Give me a nice slab of sourdough bread with Vegemite as a weekend breakfast,’ Mel said.

She added: ‘I’m not going to give up the things I love!’

Mel’s tips and tricks

1. Sleep: Which includes investing in high-quality pillows and bedding

2. Diet and drinking water: Mel revealed that she tries to eat everything in moderation, but isn’t afraid to break the healthy diet to have a cheeky bit of chocolate on occasion

3. Exercise: Mel revealed that she exercises four to five times a week

4. Self-care: It means investing and treating yourself to ‘everything from skincare, keeping your hair healthy and cut,’ she said

5. Attitude: It comes from the inside. ‘If you feel fabulous, you will look fabulous,’ she said

Mel revealed that she exercises four to five times a week by enjoying a gym class with her lookalike daughter, Natalia, 17.

But said that exercise isn’t about re-shaping her figure, but for keeping strong, both mentally and physically.

‘Exercise makes such a big difference for your mind and for your strength,’ Mel explained.

‘It’s not necessarily exercising to change your body shape but to be strong. I like to be capable, if I’m buying a piece of furniture or moving something around the house, I can, I can do things, I go with my daughter to gym class every day. She keeps me motivated.’

Another top tip from Mel is to focus on self-care and to ‘look after yourself.’

‘Everything from skincare, keeping your hair healthy and cut, I know it sounds really nanna. And what you wear says so much about you and how you present yourself and I think if you’re wearing something that makes you feel fabulous, you just feel so much better.’

Mel added that everyone should have the right attitude.

‘If you feel fabulous, you will look fabulous. Make an effort… self-pride!’ she said.

Reflecting on her incredible career, which included hosting Sunday Night and now launching a new podcast called Age Against The Machine, Mel said she never once felt pressured about her looks being on TV.

‘I wouldn’t say it was “pressure,” I was aware I was in a job where people are looking at me and therefore you have to maintain certain standards,’ she explained.

‘But I figure that’s probably no different to anyone is any other profession where you’re coming into contact with people everyday. ‘

She finished: ‘I was very lucky I could sit in a chair every morning and get my hair and makeup done by a professional, you’re presenting your best because you have highly-skilled professionals looking after you.’

The 50ml Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel is $8.95 RRP and the 100ml is $14.95 RRP.
