Adam Krozolinowski, 32, died from his stab wounds on Saturday night after a birthday party for his wife, Anna Krozolinowski, 27 at their Grimsby home.

The Polish couple had been celebrating her 27th birthday that day with a garden party with family, friends and neighbours.

But hours later, Mr Krozolinowski was found with stab wounds a short distance away on Freeman Street, and later died in hospital.

The couple, who had two daughters together, were known to nearby residents as a ‘happy family’.

One neighbour who attended Ms Krozolinowski’s party said things seemed ‘normal when we were sat in their garden’.

‘Adam was a good, loving dad to their kids, they were always well looked after.

‘He was a very hard worker, you would often see him setting off for a long 6am shift at a seafood factory.

‘We were sat out there all afternoon and when I got tired, he carried me back to my house which made me laugh.

‘Everyone had been really happy. I remember thinking what a lovely day it had been.

‘I heard shouting shortly after and when I woke up later that evening, there were police officers outside, but I never dreamed anything like  that had happened.

‘It’s such a tragedy to happen right on your doorstep. Those poor children.’

The family, who lived with Anna’s mother, had moved into their home four years ago, and had been in Grimsby since 2015.

As police closed nearby roads, devastated residents shared their shock - 'They were a nice, normal family, you wouldn't expect them to be involved in anything like this'

The couple had just celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

Adam and Anna were often seen socialising with other members of the Polish community, enjoying a drink outside their home.

Another Duncombe Steet resident added: ‘They were a nice, normal family, you wouldn’t expect them to be involved in anything like this.

‘They often walked their dog at the same time and stopped for a chat – the idea that someone you saw everyday is gone will take a while to sink in.’

Ms Krozolinowski appeared  in Grimsby Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning charged with her husband’s murder and being in possession of a knife.

She has been remanded in custody until her next court date on April 28.
