‘It’s a dire situation’: Candice Warner says she’s anxiously waiting for husband David to return home from Covid-ravaged India… and reveals worries for his mum Lorraine ahead of Mother’s Day
David Warner remains stranded in India amid the nation’s ‘second wave’ Covid crisis, after being dropped as the captain of his Indian Premier League team on Saturday.
And David’s wife Candice has shared her fears for the beleaguered batsman, admitting she’s counting down the days until he can come home.
‘It is a dire situation in India and we’re really looking forward to having him home safe as soon as he can get back,’ the 36-year-old told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday.

But while the former Ironwoman remains calm despite India’s escalating health crisis, the WAG admitted she’s worried about how his mother Lorraine is coping.
‘Mothers do worry… so it’s always important we’re just there for one another,’ she said, explaining that she plans to visit Lorraine on Mother’s Day while David is away.
Elsewhere in the interview, Candice admitted she’s no stranger to celebrating Mother’s Day without her husband – who regularly travels overseas for sporting commitments.

‘It’s not forever and you just deal with it’: Elsewhere in the interview, Candice admitted she’s no stranger to celebrating Mother’s Day without her husband – who regularly travels overseas for sporting commitments.
‘David’s always away at this time of the year, so it’s generally always Mother’s Day just with myself and the girls. It’s not forever and you just deal with it,’ the mother-of-three said.
It comes after David shared a heartbreaking message from his three young girls begging their dad to come home from India.
He uploaded a poignant drawing of his young family with a handwritten note from his eldest daughter, Ivy Mae, to Instagram.

‘Please daddy come home straight away. We miss you a lot and love you. Love from Ivy, Indi and Isla,’ the six-year-old wrote.
The note also included a drawing of the family surrounded by red love hearts.

The Test batsman is among a number of Australian cricketers who face an uncertain future stranded in India as the Indian Premier League is suspended and multiple players test positive to Covid-19.
Another 9,000 Aussies are also trapped in the virus-ravaged nation, which has seen 20 million cases of coronavirus and hospitals at breaking point.
On Tuesday, the IPL announced the immediate indefinite suspension of the big-money tournament featuring many of the world’s best players, acknowledging that if the seven-week competition were to continue it may put ‘lives at stake’.
Warner and his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammates have been plunged into lockdown after one of their players, Wriddhiman Saha, returned a positive COVID-19 test on Tuesday.
