Rag’n’Bone Man says he would love for his son Reuben, three, to ‘go into music’

Rag’n’Bone Man has said he would love for his three-year-old son Reuben to ‘go into music’ as he discusses ‘winging it’ as a parent after splitting from his wife.

Talking about his son’s love of music, the musician, 35, said Reuben has recently started asking to go to the studio with him and carries a harmonica in his pocket when he goes to nursery.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross show which airs on Saturday, he also said he often feels like he’s ‘winging it’ as a father after he split from Reuben’s mother Beth Rouy in 2019 after just six months of marriage.

When asked about parenting the singer – whose real name is Rory Graham – said: ‘We’re all winging it aren’t we? All the time. Especially as a father.’

Speaking about his son Reuben, who’ll be four in August and whether he’s into music Rory said: ‘Quite recently he’s started saying, ‘Daddy can we go to studio?’ He’ll sit around and bash the drums quite hard.

‘I picked him up from nursery, one of his teachers said, ‘Just so you’re aware, Ruben’s got a harmonica in his pocket.’ He’d nicked it from the studio and taken it to nursery.’

He added: ‘I’d love him to go into music. As long as he’s happy.’

The star then joked: ‘I don’t think he really likes my music that much to be honest. He now and again tells the Alexa to play ‘daddy’s music’, which it doesn’t understand.

‘Now he’s just realised he has to say Rag’n’Bone Man and then he says, ‘Alexa stop!’

Since splitting from his wife in November 2019, the star has moved on with his new waitress girlfriend and mother-of-three Zoe Beardsall as they were seen out together for the first time in January this year.

The Sun reported at the time that Zoe is a waitress at a cafe near his home in the country

A source told the publication: ‘Rory’s fame has been a bit strange to him because while he loves making music, he’s a regular guy and wants to have a normal life.

‘With Zoe they just really get along and like each other. Neither of them have had an easy ride when it comes to relationships but they’ve become really close.

‘They both have kids too, so they feel like they’re on the same page.’

It is not clear when the couple started seeing each other, however Zoe has shared snaps of them together to her Instagram account throughout last December.

It was revealed in November 2019 that the singer and his wife Beth, who had been together for 10 years, had split six months after getting married.

The couple are said to have parted ways ‘amicably’ after marrying at Lewes Registry Office in East Sussex on May 2, shunning traditional wedding attire for tracksuits.

A source told The Sun at the time: ‘It’s a great shame, but these things happen. Everyone is staying amicable, and they have a son together who is their top priority.’

The critically-acclaimed artist had not publicly announced their engagement and has kept his personal life mostly out of the spotlight.

In February 2017, Rag’n’Bone Man took home the BRIT Award for British Breakthrough as well as the gong for BRITs Critic’s Choice Award.

His breakthrough track Human made it to number two in the UK charts in 2016 and won a Brit Award in 2018.

Despite his huge success, fame doesn’t appear to have change the star, who previously said: ‘I don’t see all the attention as pressure. I’m just a normal guy who loves to sing. I’m just happy that people now want to listen to me.’
