‘Robbed your cat, come get it back’: Video shows thugs snatching a ‘terrified’ cat and goading its owner

  • Man is filmed picking up an innocent cat off the street and carrying her around
  • The cat is held while the men walk around and film themselves goading owner
  • They have been reported to the police and the RSPCA but not one has said sorry

A thug has been filmed carrying a cat around the town centre while laughing and goading its owner, saying: ‘Robbed your cat, come get it back.’

The man is seen picking up three year old Biscuit and carrying her around Newbury town centre.

The clip was posted on Snapchat and it quickly caught the attention of locals in Newbury.

Owner Sophie Lightowlers saw people posting about a video involving a white cat on a Facebook page and realised it was her beloved cat.

In the video, the cat is held while the men walk around the town laughing and saying: ‘Robbed your cat, come get it back.’

She said: ‘When I first saw the video I felt physically sick. I was absolutely disgusted that someone would treat any animal like that, and then it sunk in that it was my cat and then my concern turned to rage.

‘It still makes me angry to think about because Biscuit is such a friendly cat and she loves attention from strangers. I really feel like they’ve taken advantage of her friendliness to mistreat her.’

The video was reposted to Facebook by Sophie’s friend, Lauren Cayleigh, who wants the men to hand themselves in to the local authorities.

She added: ‘I’ve heard nothing in terms of apology from the men in the video. One of them has tried to excuse their actions by saying they thought she was a stray, but no remorse at all.’

Biscuit is doing well following the video. Ms Lightowlers said: ‘She was a bit traumatised when I first collected her but she’s fully recovered now.’

She has reported the incident to the police and the RSPCA. The men in the video have been contacted for comment.
