  • They were seen on doorbell security cam racing down Brooke Avenue, Chester
  • In a bid for freedom, the cows reportedly escaped from a farm three miles away
  • Stunned residents reacted to the hilarious footage: ‘I just laughed and laughed’

Footage shows the moment 200 rowdy cows brought ‘udder’ chaos to a quiet cul-de-sac after escaping from a field three miles away.

The 37-second clip, captured on a doorbell security camera in Cheshire earlier this week, shows the rampaging herd racing down Brooke Avenue, Chester.

Seizing their opportunity on Monday, July 4, the herd of approximately 200 cows made a bid for freedom after escaping from a farm three miles away.

The charging cattle speed past before eventually circling back and congregating in one person’s driveway – chewing some weeds outside the front of their house.

And residents were likely to have been woken up by their bellowing moos, as the timestamp on the clip shows it was just after 5am when the mayhem began.

Pensioner and parish councillor Brenda Southward, 67, was stunned when she watched back the footage after getting calls from her neighbours.

She said: ‘The first I knew about it was when I woke up at 7.45am. All the neighbours were ringing me saying have you seen the cows outside.

‘I’m disabled and walk with a zimmer frame so I went and turned the camera on to look. When I saw the footage I just sat and laughed and laughed.

‘Because we live on a cul-de-sac they had to turn around. We don’t have a gate on our driveway so in they came. I’d just had the path cleaned as well!

Mooooo-ve it! The 37-second clip, captured on a doorbell security camera, shows 200 rowdy cows disturbing a once quiet cul-de-sac in Cheshire in the early hours of the morning

‘Apparently they came from Mickle Trafford which is three miles away so they must have come down the A41.’

Fortunately for residents, Cheshire police were called to assist and eventually moo-ved the cows on.

Brenda added: ‘I’ve never seen anything like that before. I think we had about eight on our drive.

‘They were nosing in my partner’s car. Funnily enough, I’ve got my car up for sale but they didn’t bother looking at mine.’
