This is the heart-stopping moment three masked carjackers armed with baseball bats and hammers sprinted toward a driver across a deserted car park.

Officers were called to Goldsworth Park Centre in Woking at around 10pm on June 26 following reports of assault and attempt robbery.

The victim had been walking to his car when he was chased by the three thugs who smashed the windows of his vehicle in bid to break in.

The driver suffered minor cuts but was able to drive away.

Surrey Police is now appealing for anyone with information to come forward to track down the assailants.

In the CCTV clip, the driver can be seen walking across the near-empty car park that is being lit up by security lights.

But as he unlocks the car and begins to clamber inside three men wearing balaclavas come hurtling toward him having been lurking in wait.

Two of them can be seen wearing dark tracksuits and one in a camouflage print hooded top.

The group begin frantically attacking the car and smash through the windows before the driver manges to get into gear and speed away.
