Formula son! James Hunt’s lad shows he’s just like his father as he’s pictured with actress Ellie Bamber at Silverstone

  • Large celebrity crowd attended Silverstone to see Lewis Hamilton scoop victory
  • Among them was F1 legend James Hunt’s son Freddie, who is also a racing driver
  • Also spotted at the track were Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford and tennis prodigy Emma Raducanu

Even in the glamorous 1970s heyday of Formula One, his father stood out as an impossibly handsome playboy rarely seen without a beautiful girl on his arm.

Now it seems James Hunt’s son Freddie is a chip off the old block after he was spotted at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone over the weekend.

The 34-year-old, who is also a racing driver, was pictured with glamorous actress Ellie Bamber, from the BBC1 drama The Serpent.

The scene was in keeping with a star-studded weekend which culminated in British racer Lewis Hamilton storming to victory yesterday.

Among the famous faces at the Northamptonshire track were Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford and Emma Raducanu, the 18-year-old British tennis prodigy who won the hearts of Wimbledon spectators earlier this month.

Somewhat appropriately for the 59-year-old Top Gun actor, Cruise arrived wearing aviator sunglasses on what would become the hottest day of the year so far.

The actor, who has been in Britain for the last two months filming the seventh Mission: Impossible film, watched the race from Hamilton’s Mercedes team garage.

He was seen fist-pumping the victorious Briton at the end of the thrilling race and even gave him a congratulatory hug.

But Hamilton’s speed to victory was not without controversy. After jostling for position through the first eight corners, Hamilton collided with race and championship leader Max Verstappen, sending the Dutchman flying into the barriers and out of the race.

Hamilton, 36, was handed a ten-second penalty which saw him tumble down to fifth place, only to take the lead in a daring manoeuvre two laps from the race’s end.
