The Essex-born singer previously said suffering with anxiety makes it hard for her to perform on stage as she discussed her mental health challenges.

The Rockabye hitmaker revealed she ‘hates people looking at her’ and so music was a ‘weird career to go into’.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain – where she also discussed her latest track with Niall Horan – the star said hearing other people talk about their difficulties helped her.

She said: ‘Sometimes weird for people to hear I suffer with anxiety because some people say “how do you go on stage” and I say “I don’t know” because I hate people looking at me.’

She added: ‘It’s a bit of a weird career to go into for someone like me.’

Explaining how she copes she said: ‘When you say to people just talk about how you’re feeling, that’s what helped me find out my brain, by hearing other people talk about what they’re going through.

‘I had no idea about my brain really. I can say about three years ago, I still didn’t understand anything about mental health.

‘It was only when I saw people talking about it online and on the TV. I feel so strongly about that and I want to be so open with everyone.

‘I want everyone to know that, it might look like you’re happy and you have everything, but you can still have things going on up here that people can’t see. I want to talk about it all the time.’
