‘I look forward to chatting to you soon’: Ben Cousins is the latest star to join Cameo

AFL star Ben Cousins is the latest star to join Cameo.  

The 43-year-old former West Coast Eagles player has joined the celebrity video sharing site and is doing video shout outs to fans for $75. 

Fans of the premiership player can book him for a specialised video message, where he will be among the ranks of other famous celebrities and, more recently, a long list of AFL players. 

In his introduction video on his profile, the Brownlow Medallist introduces himself and said he joined the platform because it’s a ‘bit of fun.’

‘I’m Ben Cousins, I’ve not long since joined Cameo, which looks like a bit of fun.’

‘So get in contact to book me for birthday wishes, shout outs, personal messages or just about anything. I look forward to chatting to you soon,’ he added.  

The former Eagles captain has already received several requests from supporters.  

Ben had initially set his price for a shout out to $50, but on Saturday the AFL star raised it to $75 as more requests poured in.     

One fan gave Ben a very positive review after receiving his video message, writing, ‘This was perfect!! Good to see you happy Benny, all the best for the future.’  

The footballer will be joining other former and current AFL players on the platform such as Campbell Brown, Adam Treloar, Dustin Fletcher, Josh Kennedy, Nic Naitanui, Jason Akermanis, Warwick Capper and Robert DiPierdomenico.  

The former methamphetamine addict has made efforts to turn his life around in the past seven months, after multiple run-ins with the law, stints behind bars, and a drug addiction that cost him his career.

West Coast Eagles fans have been thrilled to spot their beloved hero looking sober and healthy, most recently at Perth’s Optus Stadium when Ben brought his nine-year-old son Bobby to a game in June.   

The fan-favourite has come a long way in the 15 months since he spoke publicly for the first time in 10 years about his downward spiral in the Ben Cousins: Coming Clean documentary.

Sporting long hair in a ponytail and a scruffy beard at the time, he admitted he’d ‘stuffed things up royally’ and that it was time to put things right.

‘I hope people can see I’m having a crack at turning it around,’ he said in March 2020. 

Ben notched up 238 games and booted 205 goals during his exciting professional career with the West Coast Eagles, where he won a premiership against the Sydney Swans in 2006.

He was later sacked by the club and copped a one year ban from the AFL.

The Richmond Tigers gave Cousins a second chance in 2009, where he played 32 more games and booted 12 more goals before he officially retired in 2010.
