Man, 50, is arrested on suspicion of murder after body of elderly man is found in freezer at tip

A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after waste disposal workers found a body inside a freezer.

The freezer had been moved from a flat in Birmingham to a waste management centre in Colliery Lane, Exhall, by a housing association before the shocking discovery.

The body is described as that of an elderly man. A post-mortem is due to take place tomorrow. The individual is yet to be identified.

The 50-year-old man is believed to have been known to the victim, said police, and was taken into police custody in Derby. 

West Midlands police said enquiries were ongoing and that a murder investigation had been launched.
