Black dad goes viral after slamming critical race theory with daughter

A video of a black father slamming critical race theory with his young daughter is going viral after he warned it is just teaching children to judge each other based on their skin color.

Kory Yeshua, who lives in Riverside County, California, posted the video on TikTok last month in which he discusses the controversial teachings with his six-year-old daughter Royalty.

The father, who is staunchly conservative, said he is refusing to allow his children to be impacted by critical race theory.

Yeshua, whose social media feeds are filled with videos of himself slamming Democrats, said he is choosing instead to teach his children that they be anything they want to be if they work hard.

In an interview with DailyMail.com, Yeshua said children are being taught that black and white children are ‘separate’.

‘It’s just always the same thing, trying to teach black and white kids that they are separate. We have got enough to worry about in America, we do not need to be teaching kids that they are oppressors or oppressed based on the melanin content of their skin,’ he said.

His video has gone viral since it was posted on May 19 and has been viewed more than 60,000 times across TikTok and Instagram.

In the video, Yeshua tells his daughter: ‘Daddy teaches you that you can be anything in this world that you wanna be. Doesn’t daddy teach you that?’

His daughter responds: ‘It doesn’t matter if you’re black or white or any color.’

‘How we treat people is based on who they are and not what color they are,’ Yeshua added.

The little girl then chimed in: ‘And if they’re nice and smart.’

Yeshua noted that his daughter’s interpretation was evidence of how most children think.

‘See, this is how children think right here. Critical race theory wants to end that. Not with my children, it’s not going to happen,’ he said.

‘My baby is going to know that no matter what she wants to be in life, all she has to do is work hard and she can become that.

‘We need to stop CRT. Period. Point blank.

‘Children do not see skin color. They love everybody. If they’re good people, they love them.’

CRITICAL RACE THEORY: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

The fight over critical race theory in schools has escalated in the United States over the last year.

The theory has sparked a fierce nationwide debate in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests around the country over the last year and the introduction of the 1619 Project.

The 1619 Project, which was published by the New York Times in 2019 to mark 400 years since the first enslaved Africans arrived on American shores, reframes American history by ‘placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the center of the US narrative’.

The debate surrounding critical race theory regards concerns that some children are being indoctrinated into thinking that white people are inherently racist or sexist.

Those against critical race theory have argued it reduces people to the categories of ‘privileged’ or ‘oppressed’ based on their skin color.

Supporters, however, say the theory is vital to eliminating racism because it examines the ways in which race influence American politics, culture and the law.

The audio on the original TikTok video has since been removed.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the social media platform to ask why.

‘The audio was taken off the story yesterday, after it started to blow up,’ Yeshua told DailyMail.com.

‘I don’t know what happened – I haven’t heard anything about it being a copyright issue. I have used that music in the background of other posts, and it’s all over Tiktok.’

Yeshua said his daughter hadn’t been taught critical race theory at her school but she was shown a video several months ago about segregation.

‘About four months ago, my daughter was shown a video about segregation by her teacher. I had to have a conversation with her about race after, and would have preferred to have been able to choose when to do that myself. I had a word with the principal, who was very understanding,’ he said.

Critical race theory has sparked a fierce nationwide debate over the last year in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests and the introduction of the 1619 Project.

Some of the controversy is centered on concerns that children, in particular, are being indoctrinated into thinking that white people are inherently racist or sexist as the theory is being taught in schools.

Those against critical race theory have argued it reduces people to the categories of ‘privileged’ or ‘oppressed’ based on their skin color.

Supporters, however, say the theory is vital to eliminating systemic racism because it examines the ways in which race has, or continues to, influence American politics, culture and the law.

Cases have emerged in recent months across the country of teachers and parents saying their children are being forced to learn critical race theory in schools.

Lawmakers have been introducing bills that, in varying degrees, aim to ban educators from teaching children they are either ‘privileged’ or ‘oppressed’ in classrooms.

Oklahoma became one latest states to sign into law a ban on teaching critical race theory in public schools, with Republican Gov Kevin Stitt arguing that it will allow history to be taught without labeling a ‘young child as an oppressor’.
