An award-winning singer has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend during a row at her flat.

The pop star, who is in his 30s, was arrested by police on suspicion of common assault and taken to a South London police station after officers were called to the residence at 6.03pm on Tuesday to reports of a ‘disturbance’.

The London-born singer, whose career in the music industry spans two decades, is alleged to have attacked the unnamed woman during an argument at her residence.

Officers rushed to the address after neighbours reported hearing screams from the property, The Sun reports.

Upon their arrival, police spoke to the singer, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and his girlfriend and took him to the police station where his fingerprints, photo and a DNA swab were taken. 

He has now been bailed until the end of this month. 

His girlfriend reported minor injuries but did not require any treatment in hospital.

A source told The Sun: ‘Apparently, he had a row with a girlfriend that ended up getting out of hand.

‘There was a lot of screaming and one of the woman’s neighbours called the police.

‘They turned up, nicked him and led him away.’

Police investigating the incident are now due to take statements from witnesses.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police told The Sun: ‘Officers attended and a woman reported minor injuries. Inquiries are ongoing.’
